Gator Love In Bloom....

Went back to the La Chua Trail again this morning and I was the first one there. I walked the 1.5 miles back to the observation deck and just as I got there I heard a very deep, very loud bellowing. Scared the crap out of me. After I leaped 30 feet up onto the platform I realized it was a gator.

It is mating season and he wanted to be heard. He would raise his head up out of the weeds and much, bow up, and bellow for a minute or two, and then slide back into the water submerged. He did this several times, and you could hear them all across the prairie doing this. Rather eerie!
