Stunning Bluebells

I’m afraid my iPhone photos above and in Extras don’t do justice to the bluebells at Blickling this morning. G and I had this part of the woods mostly to ourselves, simply accompanied by the birds singing their hearts out. I did a 360 degree video and sent it to family and friends, such a shame I can’t add it to Blip. Mother Nature is so wonderful, particularly in Spring. Then I had a psychology group meet up of 6 in the car park at Blakeney (don’t ask!). 

The blue tit eggs in my camera bird box started hatching last night - such weird, tiny, alien looking creatures. Initially they couldn’t make a sound, but today are making a weak rattle-like noise when the parents are collecting food. At one point the male arrived with food when the female was out, it just waited for her to get back and passed the food over for distribution.

Boris announced the full public enquiry into the government’s handling of the pandemic will begin in Spring 2022. This is in order to see the outcome of a winter with vaccines and variants and to get the arrangements in place, including liaising with the devolved administrations before setting the terms of reference. An independent panel has issued the first report into the handling of the pandemic. It says the WHO should have declared a pandemic before 30th Jan 2020 and that 3.4m lives could have been saved in this preventable disaster if countries had taken strong action in Feb, particularly over the movement of people. Norway has now dropped the AZ vaccine. People aged 38-39 in Eng can book a jab from tomorrow. Bolton is struggling with a surge in cases, worryingly with the highly transmissible Indian variant reported as a factor via travel to India. A govt minister says local restrictions can’t be ruled out going forward. India recorded a record 4,205 deaths yesterday. As there isn’t the firewood for all the Hindu required cremations, people are putting the dead in the Ganges and dozens of bodies are washing up downstream. The UK economy shrank by 1.5% in the 1st qtr, but the good sign is that growth in March was 2.1%.
