We're pregnant!

This is my self-propagated capsicum stoically following the bravery of the plant from WALL·E. Here is the same plant 54 weeks ago and it was just a little whisper at Basil's base last February.

I was expecting this to open as a flower, and had hopes of pollinating by paintbrush, but it has opened as a ready-formed fruit embryo, so I imagine it is an emergency clone as the plant throws everything it has remaining to get one seed out there to save the species from extinction. It cannot possibly know that it has millions of close relations beyond the confines of my flat.
