Tired

Having stopped writing my diary on a daily basis and received my pre-ordered paperback copy of this book, I'm now reading again. "Shuggie Bain" is a very well written and powerful book that describes the upbringing of a boy by an alcoholic mother in conditions of emotional, educational and financial poverty. The events sound as if they are from a distant era, but I guess the early 80's are, even if it doesn't seem so long ago to me!
