Yesterday's abstract was a gunnera leaf. It was the first thing I ever blipped, nearly 11 years ago. It grows ginormous, has fierce prickles, is indestructible, not very useful but madly impressive. It has to be cut down every Autumn, covered with its own leaves and left to sleep. It pops up with abandon in early April, gets frosted, looks miserable and then perks up and grows about 3metres tall! We have two mighty examples and two smaller ones - this is one of the smaller ones.
