Spectacular
The long view into the fabulously remote and empty Cwm (or actually collection of Cwms) formed by the staggering cliffs of Carnedd's Dafydd and Llewelyn.
The foreboding pyramid shaped cliff dominating the view is Crib Lem. The scramble we were heading for sometimes carries this name, but is more accurately the Llech Ddu Spur, whilst Crib Lem hides it from view in this picture you can see it well here*. It is 200m of spectacularly positioned fun, but is protected from the hordes by a more than slightly challenging approach. Excellent.
As a truly quality mountain day it had a bit of everything. Dramatic but good weather (ie pretty much dry till we could see the van), wild Welsh ponies, isolation, consequences and beauty.
Personally I found the echoing calls of a true mountain god, the rare Ring Ouzel, just added the finishing flourish. When he came and sat on the next pinnacle to us it was a real honour. Next time I'll remember to take little camera with its zoom lens.
Extra
Following Tuesday's Elf on a Shelf extra shot, today the little Elf was to be found atop a Christmas Tree.
* It's important to note in the recording of any instance of things falling into mountain streams that the all important Cornish Pasty survived...
