The most colourful natural subject(s) of the day, a variety of mosses near Loch Affric. The area is so very green in the Summer, when I've normally been there, but nearly everything was more pastel (perhaps duller) at this time of year.

A 7:30am phone call forced me out from under the cosy duvet and blanket. "Fancy coming out for a walk?!" said the far too cheery voice at the other end. Being aware of the cold and windy forecast, I warily enquired as to the level of extremeness of the proposed venture. "Around Loch Affric," came the reply. That's fairly level, so I replied, "Sounds good to me... as long as there aren't any diversions to bag a Munro or two!"

It was a grand day, in spite of the strong and bitter Easterly wind. First time I've been all the way around the Loch. About ten miles in all. On the return car journey, we had a slight detour to see some Red Deer stags, for the benefit of our German guest. The outdoor activities were followed by a fine beef and sausage casserole, that hit-the-spot.
