views are beautiful

I remember reading once that views are lost on children. What we perceive as beautiful and worth a stop to see, is lost on them and their impatience to keep moving. I disagreed then and now - completely.

We are big on views as a family and by positively encouraging the children to look out the window while driving, stop while walking and to just appreciate the beauty that we see - be it man-made or natural, they now are enthusiastic pointer outers of lovely views.

Of course we are lucky where we live as the vistas are spectacular, I absolutely love it on the drive to school when Sienna exclaims with delight - "look snow on the mountains, isn't it beautiful".

Yes it is my child, as was the sun setting over Windermere this late afternoon, very beautiful indeed.
