Copper Or Gold
A day of incidents. Today’s Blipfoto was taken at sunset and shows the fresh golden leaves of our copper beech. I glimpsed this photo opportunity through the window and quickly caught it. A few minutes later and the sun had set.
I do like copper beech trees. Pat and I planted it about 20 years ago in front of a very slow growing beech tree. They are probably too close to each other but the copper beech is flourishing.
First thing this morning we received news from Portugal of the death of Pat’s cousin, Antonieta during the night. She had suffered a stroke a few years ago, but just lately she had shown of signs of failing.
Antonieta’ s funeral took place in the afternoon. Of course, it was a low-key socially distanced event.
In the afternoon we had a 90 minute FaceTime call with Stein from Shanghai. Apart from family news we are trying to help resolve outstanding matters regarding Stein’s year at St Andrews University.
Following the call, we discovered that Apple’s English to Chinese translator is very good according to Stein.
In the early evening Pat announced that we had no water (from Scottish Water). No water is a major inconvenience. I checked the supply at Roseberry and there was none there either.
A series of overlapping phone conversations with representatives of Scottish Water confirmed there was a burst supply pipe which would be repaired within the hour.
That turned out to be the case and I then spent the next hour running the water till it turned clear and then monitoring all the plumbing fixtures our house to ensure that any air in the pipes had been freed.
And after that I saw the Blipfoto opportunity.
