By the skin of my teeth!

A quick capture of this bird at the entrance of the harbour in Hull, just before I got to the ferry that was going to take me the Holland and ultimately to Germany.
At that moment I didn’t know that I was going to spend an agonising hour waiting to see if I was going to be let on the ferry.
To leave the country you have to have a covid PCR test, no older that 48-72 hours. As it takes 48 hours for the results to come back you have to time it right. Take the test Monday morning, receive results back Wednesday morning, catch ferry in evening. By the time I got to the terminal I had no result, delays due to “high volumes of tests”. Holiday season hasn’t even started yet! I waited until the last minute, 7pm when the counters closed, and I was ready to go home again, having missed the ferry. Then 3 mins past 7 my results arrived! Then I had to take another quick test that took 30 mins. The people at the terminal were kind, they opened the counter again, opened the test centre just for me and kept the ferry waiting.
I just got in and the the hatch closed, phew!!
