Where did those waves come from?

The weather was set to have 40-50% chance of rain and a wind speed of 3. Not too bad for one of the wettest spots in the UK.
As I took this photo I thought it'll be alright. By the time I'd put my camera in my dry bag and blown my tow float up the waves arrived, just like that, out of nowhere. It was raining too. We swam up and down the waves, they weren't huge but when you get a face full of cold water........ Fortunately the water calmed itself as we got to the yellow buoy (250m- not far I know). The swim back to shore with Ruth, was much easier. The other 3 swim friends carried onto the next buoy - perhaps next time.
I'm still glad I went swimming, it felt good to have a challenge.
