Entangled Fur Seal

I have only put this picture up as we were able to disentangle the seal with minimal stress later on. Sadly it goes to show that even with some of the best upheld fisheries regulations in the world, fur seals enter areas outwith South Georgia's influence to areas where there is little incentive to disentangle by-catch seals properly. This goes, in a much larger sense, for albatross. Although there are simple and effective methods to reduce by-catch of the species in the Southern Ocean, these methods are not implemented elsewhere.
