Rosencrans National Cemetery
The Rosencrans National Cemetery (http://www.cem.va.gov/cems/nchp/ftrosecrans.asp) is in the Fort Rosecrans Military reservation, roughly 10 miles west of San Diego, overlooking the bay and the city. It is high in the hills, and the view is spectacular. But what is astonishing is the sheer number of graves. The rows and rows of simple white marble headstones stretch on for a huge distance.
The cemetery is on the road to the Cabrillo National Monument, which is another beautiful place to visit, and I got lots of great pictures there. But for sheer impact, the graveyard - just the number of graves - will be my lasting memory.
To those who fell defending our countries, I thank you.
