New Life
Our son-in-law, Gander, is giving new life and a new color to this dresser...which will be the changing table for Goose and Gander's little one due to arrive in August. This dresser has quite a history with our family, as my husband and I purchased it at a thrift store in the Falls Church, VA are in 1979 when we were getting our nursery ready for our first born. It needed some serious cleaning, and a bit of refinishing which my mother-in-law did for us at the time. In addition, my husband cut the legs off to make it a bit shorter for me to use as a changing table...and he made the changing table pad we used on top of it for all 3 of our children.
We passed the chest onto our oldest daughter when she was having her first child in 2003, she painted it blue, relined the drawers and put on new handles. She used it for both of her children before passing it back to us sometime in 2009/2010.
While our son and daughter-in-law, who live in VA didn't get the chance to use it, we are happy that it will be put into use again later this year.
(There is a partial tag on the back of the dresser still that says it was made by the Newton Furniture Company of Newton, NC but during a quick internet research for them, I can't locate the company in NC.) Would be nice to know the history of the dresser for sure.
