A floury flower

Bird’s-eye primrose. The scientific name, Primula farinosa, comes from the fact that its stems and buds have a fine farina coating.
It is very choosy about where it grows. It prefers areas where lime rich water runs through peaty ground. Its favourite areas are the north Pennines, the Lake District and the Limesrone areas of Yorkshire.
