We have stone work!

Well after a whole year, the scaffolding has come down and the renewed stone work is resplendent in all its stony glory! There was white peddle dash covering the house since we moved in, complete with moss growing out the cracks. The cracks in some place seem to go the whole way through the wall as there was damp inside - a complete joy! So the render was removed, the old lime between the stones also removed and new lime added in - plus endless repairs to worn stones and cracked window sills. It was a long job indeed. The white end of the house could not be returned to its natural stone as the stonework was in too poor condition so we are grateful this part of the house could. There is still (many) things to do but I feel that we have began to restore an 180 year old house for many generations to come...
