Ferry
This ship is the Stromness to Scrabster ferry returning from the second trip to mainland Scotland today. This week the ferry operator has returned to the summer timetable: three return trips during weekdays. They operated a winter timetable of just two return trips a day all through last year. Even though few people were allowed to travel, goods were still being transported (so we could eat).
Orkney is more than self-sufficient in energy and raises good quality beef and lamb, but few crops are grown here. Barley grows well in this climate, but the islands don't produce enough for the two distilleries.
