The workmen began to lay the new tarmacadam on the road outside the house today. Right the way down to the main road junction but only on the other side of the street. I guess they will be back again tomorrow weather permitting, and it may not permit. Buckets of rain forecast. Driving a machine as big as this from a seat way up in the stratosphere as it is, must induce great feelings of power.
