Wound up in Wexford

W spent the morning dodging heavy, thundery showers to try to make some progress on the netting enclosure for the fruit bed.  And I wanted to do some weeding.  In the end we gave in, gave up on the idea of gardening, and went to buy some slippers - both of us have a tendency to go outside in our slippers, and we have worn out the pairs we have been wearing over the winter.  Mine have been letting in water when I walk up the wet path to the studio.

And then this evening we went out to a concert!  The Norfolk and Norwich Festival has been able to take advantage of the easing of the Covid precautions to put on some live shows.  This was one of the first, and it's the first live gig we've been to since 9th December.

An interesting performance - African music with a modern twist.  The artist was very enthusiastic and professional.  His vocal range was huge, and his cello playing was impressive and versatile.  But we felt that we would have benefitted from knowing a little more about the context of each song.  The audience was pretty sparse - but I believe that was primarily due to the necessity for distance between groups.  It was nice to see some young children there, though the ones (maybe 8 and 10 years old) seated a few rows in front of us did not impress - they didn't even manage to sit still for the first five minutes, and spent the rest of the concert constantly changing seats, eating, drinking and generally being wiggle bums.
