Central Library - Edinburgh

I passed the Central Library on George IV Bridge on this morning's run.  I like the design of this building both inside and outside.  Opened in 1890, it's one of the first Carnegie libraries and was the first public library in Edinburgh.  It was designed by Sir George Washington Browne in 1887 who won the Council sponsored competition.  It's actually a huge library as it has several floors below the lending floor on which you enter.  "Let there be light" with the sun's rays is carved above the entrance; something that Andrew Carnegie insisted should appear on all libraries he funded.  The library re-opened on 3rd May this year after Covid closure.

This afternoon's bowling was rained off before we even reached the rink!  It freed up a few hours to do some home baking and reading.
