The Acer
What a wild, windy, and wet day it's been.
I've only been out for a supermarket trip, swift walk around the block, and brief foray into the garden for this photo.
This Acer may not look much but it's one of two little trees which are my oldest plants. (The other one has larger, green leaves, and is less interesting.) I collected the winged seeds from street trees as a child, sowed them, and they germinated and grew. I've kept them in pots so they could travel with me whenever I moved home. They are now over fifty years old. Unfortunately, they have suffered some mishaps and damage over that time, but at least they (and I!) are still alive.
