Reveal the red berries.

The customer asked for this Aucuba Japonica to be reduced, she doesn't like shrubs getting too big, and by doing it carefully with secateurs the red berries are safe and are a great contrast to the foliage.

As you can see it's growing against the gorgeous trunk of a weeping Silver Birch but, at the moment, you have to be 'inside' the foliage to see it.

Felt like a really autumnal day today, strong winds and rain, not really the day to be gardening.
