BLIPMEET
Spike got a haircut today! All four of us piled into the car to take him to Chez Jeanne, the pet grooming place. I felt like I was leaving my firstborn child to get his cute curls cut off!
We all proceeded to Trail House for coffee* discussed what to do next for awhile and wound up going home, making a shopping list and going to the store. I stayed behind because I didn't think all four of us needed to go to the store and decided while Spike was out of the house to vacuum the rugs, something I have avoided doing for months since the vacuum cleaner seemed sluggish and needed service. Since I never got around to taking in the vacuum cleaner (such a convenient excuse) I figured sluggish was better than nothing but it seemed to do the job just fine. Cross that chore off the list. (Taking vacuum cleaner in, not vacuuming the rug).
By the time they got back it was time to pick up Spike who was proclaimed 'a very good boy' They did a very nice job of taking off all the unruly bits without shaving him.
After lunch we had a visit from Blipper TravelPhotos and her partner who live in Santa Rosa but haven't been able to visit because of Covid. The reason for the get together was so she could meet my brother and talk to him about melons. As we stood around the tomato beds a cloud covered the sun and the temperature dropped significantly. Now it is raining...not much but it IS rain. We all talked about a lot more than melons and had a lovely visit. John is now planting the pepper plant grown from seed that they brought....a great excuse for getting together and comparing tomato and pepper notes.
We're such creatures of habit that we are going to Willi's Wine Bar with Rick and Meg for dinner tonight. It has always been a sort of special occasion place for us and today really did feel like a number of special occasions! We did try to get a reservation at a different restaurant but it was fully booked (which means 50% capacity). I might have to consider a change of clothing if the rain persists.
NB: It didn't. lasted about 30 seconds and now the sky is blue again.
