Milly Maran

Continuing on my chicken theme. This is Milly. I have posted photos on here of her sister Molly in the past, but she unfortunately was lost to us just over a week ago. One of the things I have learnt in my first year of keeping chickens and ducks is that nature is very cruel. The crows steal the ducks eggs, the fox kills the ducks and chickens, the ex-battery hens don’t live much beyond 2 or 3 years and they are all very susceptible to disease. We are restocking our flock now, because we know we will face losses during the coming winter. That is life.
