Afternoon tea
HWe both had the day off and had hope to have time together doing something nice. The weather was not cooperating, so we went out early to Cromer and had breakfast in the Rocket Cafe, overlooking the sea. Its a lovely location, so worth a visit if you have never been. Then, we had to be at home by 11 for the cooker engineer, who came and fixed the hinges on the top oven door.
The rain had already settled in for the day by then, and hasn't stopped since. We had to go to Holt to pick up an afternoon tea.
This was a gift, but we had to keep putting it off due to the lockdowns. Consequently our card expired last May, but at Christmas when I was home, I went in to the shop and they agreed to extend it. Then we went straight into another lockdown. So last weekend when things were about to open I went and asked them if there was anything they could do, as it was now a year out of date. They kindly offered a take away afternoon tea. As we were off work together today, we decided thats what we would do. We drove to Blakeney and picked up a takeaway tea, then sat overlooking the Quay to eat out sandwiches and cakes. Then drove home to enjoy the scones, jam and cream, tea from my proper bone china tea set, and a film (A Star is Born) on the sofa under a blanket!!
Jon put the breadmaker on to make the dough for home made pizza, and I walked to the chickens. Collected my table, umbrella and tray of sweetcorn plants from the neighbouring allotment where they had been taken to in the wind. Even though it was still raining, I decided to quickly plant the sweetcorn. If I wait for nice weather nothing is going to happen down there. Collected the eggs, fed the hens and walked back. Then the egg box slipped out of my hand when I was taking it out of the bag, and all 4 eggs broke, one splattered on the conservatory floor, and 3 in different degrees of brokenness, but all eith egg escaping. I was frustratingly upset by it, but got over it. So after another splendid pizza made by Mollie we are now watching the last episode of Johnny Vegus carry on Glamping....and now want a campervan more than we ever have!!
And rain continues relentlessly...
