Project 365 day 141: Out of the Wind

After fifteen or twenty minutes trying to shoot wet and wildly waving wild flowers in the garden in light drizzle and a howling gale, it belatedly occurred to me that it would be much simpler and more comfortable to take some indoors. We have more than enough weeds to spare a few, and they are certainly not endangered species. Here are Queen Anne's Lace, Jack by the hedge, buttercups and bugle, in a favourite vase bought forty two years ago, during my first year at university, to hold bunches of daffodils in my college room. If anyone knew Durham in those days, it was a treasure from Meander, the lovely shop on Elvet Bridge which sold pottery, hand crafted items from around the world, cards and the kind of wrapping paper you could use to decorate your student room, on the ground floor, and what used to be termed "ethnic" clothes in the basement. (I still have one of the dresses too - it's the kind of shape that Sewing Bee recently termed a "buffet dress", ideal for accommodating expanding waistlines, and has probably been to almost as many weddings as I have.)
