Evening at Eastwood

Another good day.. and the only time it rained was just as we reached the car.. and it stopped after 15 minutes.

Another early morning  walking with Fletch in crisp air but it was sunny.
After  breakfast ( very well organised and following all Covid precautions) we decide to go to Rufford Abbey .
Farther than  we thought but after a stop to reset the SatNav we got there.
Some changes since we were last there. Not as many sculptures and definitely  geared towards families.
We decide to walk round the lake as usual and we were almost at the far end before, after someone tutted and muttered at us, we realised that there was a one way system in place and we were going the wrong way! Which might explain we were passing so many people  ( mainly women with prams and small children )
So we deviated off the wide path into the woods on the way back.. So much nicer . It was quiet and there were lots and lots of bluebells still flowering, so I took quite a few photos.

As we walked back there a rumble of thunder but the rain didnt come till we got to the car. It finished just as we finished our picnic.
It was still early so we decide to go up the Sherwood Forest and visit the Major oak. We took a quieter path than the one signposted , which was much nicer and there were some magnificent ancient oaks..more photos!  As we turned the corner for the last few 100 yards to the Major Oak we heard a cacophony of noise which turned out to be a class of children circled round the tree and making quite a racket so we turned round and walked back.

Back home the sat nav took us back on a much less scenic route.... through Mansfield  which was slower as there was a lot of traffic.. (picking up children from school)

Back to the hotel and time to relax.. internet not brilliant for downloading my photos. Fletch had a snooze and I didnt think he'd want his walk but at 6 pm he gave me the look so out we went into the huge grounds. He was so fulll of energy and doing rolly pollies . There was one point when I had a mild panic when he came across a bit of bone .. which somehow I removed from his mouth.. it looked liked a leg of a rat.. still had flesh and fur attached! Yuk!

No harm done.
He had another snooze while we went for our evening meal. Then out again for our evening stroll. Seems to get darker down here quite a bit earlier. Blip is of the trees, still not got many leaves. Its going to be anlate summer this year

Got a bit behind with the blips.. will catch up tomorrow
