just a bit...
of snow!
some snow showers were forecast, but it was still a surprise to wake up to about 6 inches of snow!! Today was to be a New Lanark and walk to the Falls day, but first we had to go to the shops and get Gabrielle a pair of wellies!! We popped in and out of the various visitor centre buildings between heavy snow showers, with the sun shining one minute, a blizzard the next. had a hot bowl of soup to set us up then braved the weather and set off for the 3 mile round trip to the Falls.
in spite of the falling snow the scenery was fabulous!! snow makes the trees and plants look so wonderful. needless to say we only saw one other person and so we were for the most part walking on virgin snow, which can be quite hard going, especially when you can't actually see where the steps are!
I had just mentioned to G that I hadn't had much chance to photograph any icicles this year, when we - she - spotted these, just at the side of the path, the water running of a sandstone ledge. I like the contrast between the sandstone and the snow. I have lots of shots showing lots of snow! it was a great walk and we came home with rosy cheeks and a warm glow. But I hope the snow has gone by tomorrow!!
