Walking on the past
I've always known of this short pathway made of 'Ledger Stones' from graves or memorials. It is in the old graveyard, of a church which is down the road. This site has not been used since 1916 and the bodies were exhumed in the 1930's. With some Ledger / gravestones retained.
But I've only recently learned that one of the memorial stones is for Thomas Walker: radical, philanthropist and a principal leader in the movement to abolish slavery.
I then found online a description of finding the memorial stone and who it's for:
