Wellington...

.........................................Harbour

All the photos are views from the Bluebridge Ferry as we sailed through the Wellington Harbour towards the heads and the Cook Strait, NZ.

The main photo was looking into the sun towards the Hutt Valley and edited in Snapseed.

After 113 years, a landmark on the Wellington skyline, the historic church of St. Gerard held its last mass this morning. The Catholic Church opened in Mt Victoria in 1908 and has closed over earthquake concerns. The attached monastery and community chapel will stay open.

The Point Halswell Lighthouse sits in the inner Wellington Harbour and is still operational. The octagonal concrete tower was originally painted white, but in 1979 it was painted in a distinctive black and white chequer-board pattern

The sun managed to escape the clouds briefly a couple of times, otherwise it was a cloudy and calm crossing. Sadly there was no sunset!

Many thanks for the visits, stars and hearts for my grandchildren posing in front of the colourful Titahi Bay boat sheds.
We are home again, very tired and I am about to go to bed before tomorrow arrives in ten minutes!
