This is Nell, out on the chemin this afternoon. We have had Nell since she was a pup and last month she turned 14. She's stiff with arthritis now, appears not to hear very well and her eyes seem to be failing. Other than that she has remained fit as a lop for most of this time. Recently we have been cutting back on her walks and rarely do more than 5 Km now, and that not every day.

She took a funny turn today, the second in about a week so I think that she will be visiting the vet.

Visiting the vet is traumatic for Nell. She suffers generally from anxiety but completely freaks at the vet surgery. We try to take her in only when it's unavoidable. This feels unavoidable.

I think Nell is finally indicating her mortality.

It's difficult to contemplate.
