Why did I come in here?

Take me home Country Roads....

The pink material is Acrylic, it’s a form of plastic used in making pipe mouthpieces. The normal material is a black vulcanised rubber, which has a surprising property, apart from being malleable when heated and the ability to be highly polished; it also will return to a straight piece of pipe when slowly heated by a heat gun.
The Acrylic is in my lathe chuck, and has been drilled and is now being reduced in size until ready for filing and the sanding belt.

Montana. Neither of us had ridden a horse, so we went off to visit our latest bessy friend, she sorted out two horses for us and got ready to accompany us into the mountains. Unfortunately two young ladies from Noo Yoik decided they would like to ride as well, this had been announced at breakfast. One had been recently stood up at the altar, she was very attractive, Hispanic, long dark hair and yet she was still a member of the  Dumb Blonde fraternity, as was her pal. We waited for them at the Corral, when they turned up the owner and I almost cancelled the trip. “She” was wearing her wedding dress. Not a long white affair but a full length deerskin modelled on Pocahontas.
There was no way she could sit in a saddle in the dress, so it was hauled off, she had leggings and a T shirt on but would have been frozen had I not given her my fleece. (Note to self, polish suit of armour tomorrow) Meanwhile Elaine was up on the steps and climbed into the saddle of her horse. She reached behind to look at me and put her hand on it’s rump, my heart melted, “Ohhhhh it’s warm and soft!” Such openness and naivety. Eventually the girls were placed on horses, we sorted out the gear changes and steering options, then off we went.
In the open mountain ranges horses are essential and accepted by wildlife. We casually rode through herds of Mule Eared deer. Bird life, rabbits, coyotes, you name it we saw it. Elaine still maintains we would have seen more if I had managed to shut up, but I was so excited I kept asking questions of our guide.
On return we were unsurprisingly rather stiff and muscle sore. Here’s where Nature helped. We drove back via Chico Hot Springs and Spa, located just in the shadow of Emigrant Mountain. The thermal waters supply a large pool and a slightly smaller spring entry point. We were in heaven, lobster pink, relaxed and shedding all our aches and pains. We had arrived at dusk, suddenly in the dark of the evening it started snowing. Bliss, soft white flakes floating onto us from above warm natural heat from below.
Back at the Emigrant saloon and bar we had steaks, fries and beer.
Mountain air, mountain scenery, mountain natural hot waters and mountain food. We slept the sleep of the relaxed and got up the next day totally refreshed. Pocahantos and her friend, “Wide Butt” left for the airport. The horses stood at the rail and clapped.
