The end of the bluebells

Last night we enjoyed our dinner out with our friends - we must have finished eating by 9pm but next thing I looked and it was 11pm, we were chatting so much and catching up on each other's news that the time just ran away with us. We enjoyed a very good meal and very good service too, which was good to see as both Brexit and the lockdown have had a negative effect on the restaurant business with staff  being in short supply and many of those who are working are new and not well trained in their jobs.

This morning we woke up to sunshine which gave us hope but by late morning it was raining and blowy again. Such awful weather for this time of year, I cannot remember such a bad spring as this one we are experiencing. We still have not packed away our winter coats!

We went out for breakfast with Luke and Meriel at The Ivy in the village which was very good as it usually is. They are known for decorating the exterior of their restaurants with masses of flowers - their restaurant in Chelsea is seriously OTT with so many colourful flowers - so I had to get a photo of Luke and Meriel in the doorway to show all the flowers.

After breakfast Gavin and I took Xena for a long walk, it was sunny then raining, hot then cold - such unsettled weather. I wanted to get some final photos of the bluebells but they are now over for this season, although in this ICM you can just see the hint of blue (see extra)

I made a veggie tagine for lunch and am now going to catch up on my book and then later on some TV.
