Quiet Day
But we did get a good, if misty, walk in the arboretum this morning. Followed by grocery shopping and then a call with my youngest sister and my mom. My mom would really like to continue to live in her home - the independent "cottage" in a retirement community that she shared with my dad for 13 years after they moved to Vancouver, WA from Manchester, MA (where they lived for 50 years). Since she needs 24 hour care, the alternative is for her to move her into assisted living and she adamantly does not want that. She can afford to do what she wants, and we'll all for making it happen.
At any rate, I spent the rest of the afternoon in the garden. It's going to rain tomorrow! Thank you SO much for sending it across to us...we need it so badly! I've been wanting to take a photo of this sweet little plant that I haven't seen bloom until recently - Centaurea simplicicollis also know as Spotted Knapweed. A beautiful, very drought tolerant diminutive plant and seems to be thriving in my now drier front garden. I've been moving all of the water hogs out of that garden - either giving away or moving to the back garden. So these sweet plants can have their glory without a lot of water!
Hope you have a marvelous start to your weeks!
