And so to Liverpool. Where the Beatles theme is universal, including the city tour in an amphibious WWII landing craft (a DUKW). It is painted yellow of course because of Yellow Submarine which we all had to sing whilst floating round the docks on pain of being soaked by the water pistol wielded by our guide on the right.

It was a hoot, with the tour commentary comprising a 5o minute stand up comedy act. An example :-

"... and to your right is Rodney Street, the equivalent of London's Harley Street where all the private doctors practice. It is said that you can start at one end as an 80 year old and finsh up at the far end as a 20 year old. Except our driver (the fellow on the left in the picture) went down the street in the wrong direction and ended up as a pensioner- he was only 17 when he started down the street and look at him now..."
