Passing Train
Our afternoon walk took us along the stretch of Leeds/Liverpool canal leading away from the Wigan Pier basin and up towards the Wigan Flight (200ft ascension through 21 locks over 2 miles).
This is the first lock (85), and two railway lines also pass here, behind me the West Coast mainline, and in view, the Manchester/Southport branch line, where a Northern Rail train is being photographed by MrsB!
