Borthwick

1953 This swashbuckling advertisement appeared, in a feed trade association magazine, for Glasgow trader, Thos Borthwick (Glasgow) Ltd and at time of advert appearing was ‘nearly’ ninety!

Latterly this old established firm became a subsidiary of DCL as much of its trade was in distillery by-products.

DCL became controversially Guinness owned in 1986, then in 1987 the name changed to UD, finally in 1998 UD became Diageo and somewhere in all the streamlining Borthwick was lost and 125 years of heritage wiped-out.
