You have to have a plan

Our favourite webinar has returned after a summer break and with a new name, Poll Position. It used to be called the Political Geekfest. Under either name, it explores the deeper political and policy issues that underlie the latest Essential Poll, one of the major Australian opinion polls.

In the latest poll, people were asked whether they thought that the Government has a plan for managing a number of urgent issues like Covid, climate change and aged care. Generally only around 20% of respondents felt that the Government had a plan which they understood. Around 40% thought the Government had a plan but were not communicating it clearly, whether deliberately or through incompetence. Around the same proportion thought the Government didn’t have a plan at all.

This is the Government that looks almost certain to win the next election.
