Book Club Monday

Tonight was Book Club Monday and our first proper discussion. I think the last thing some of us wanted was to be coming out on this freezing cold night.......but we all left with smiles after a girlie night talking about lesbians, porn, feminism, movies, ducks, food, penpals, the cinema........and obviously we chatted about the book too :)

General consensus on The Color Purple was that we would all recommend it. Some found it hard to read due to how it's written whereas others found the southern way of talking all through added to the feel of the book. A couple of us felt we didn't get to know Celie so therefore weren't too bothered about her plight......overall the movie had more emotion than the book, maybe? I really need to see the film now!

Anyway, overall first night 'proper' was a big success......we just need to not get drastically distracted and go off on a tangent......well maybe not, I like being distracted and going off on a tangent :)

Next months book is Fup by Jim Dodge.

I will catch up with you all tomorrow as I'm on a 647 train to London tomorrow and I need to catch some zeds!
