Memorial Day

Had an invite a few weeks ago to a memorial service at Chase House where Mum spent the last eight and a half years of her life.  So went along today and my blip is of the fountain and plaque they have put up to remember the residents they lost to COVID-19 between the 4th and 23rd April 2020. They lost 13 out of approximately 50.
They were quite guarded with their information, understandably, so may have lost others since, I don’t know. But in any case this was a very fitting way for them to remember them.
The service was brief, lovely though and all the names read out. We then had a chance for a chat and refreshments.
It was sad, but of course I wouldn’t have not gone, and although not all 13 residents were represented, all were remembered.
Mum was quite a character, and all the staff came and chatted to me, the first time I’ve seen them all since mum died, so that was good to catch up and they all said how much they miss her still. I coped with it pretty well, until we spoke of her friend Roy, who she sat with every day. He is still there, and misses Mum a lot apparently, in fact he moved into her room so he can still feel close to her. That was when I didn’t cope with it so well, but home now and time to reflect on the day.
Have also put up an extra of some other shots I took. It made me smile when having my cup of tea, as the cups and saucers were always mis-matched, so have included that one, plus the "bus shelter" at the back where I always used to take mum for her smoke when I went to see her.
