RSPB Bempton
Tuesday 25th May
We were out early this morning to beat the weather. It rained most of the way but finally we reached the edge of the clouds and emerged into blue sky and sunshine at RSPB Bempton. I had wanted to photograph the puffins and, as we couldn't go to the Farne Islands, we decided to go to the cliffs instead.
There were a couple of light rain showers while we were there but we walked along the cliffs and stopped at three different viewing areas. I enjoyed photographing all the seabirds with my "new" camera and the long lens. There weren't as many puffins as last time I went and it was difficult to spot them. It was only when I put the photos on the computer that I realised there had been a few more than I'd seen as I had got them in the background of some shots!
At the third viewing area we did manage to spot some and I enjoyed watching them. We then spotted a rather black cloud approaching, as the forecast had predicted. We didn't make it back to the visitor centre before the rain caught us up and we were wet again.
After a picnic lunch in the car we headed back home to do some shopping and odd jobs. We also have rather a lot of photos to go through and our holiday photo books to finish. It was difficult choosing which to blip but it had to be a puffin as that was what the day had been about. A few more in the extras.
