Blue Haze

Today we went off to Longshaw to do some more nest box monitoring. In my woodland there was certainly more activity than on my previous visit. Everything seems to be behind schedule - probably as a result of the unseasonably cold and wet weather. There were lots of boxes occupied by Blue Tits, one that was probably in use by Nuthatch, and one that was being taken an interest in by our target bird - the Pied Flycatcher. The weather was pretty gloomy, but this had the effect of making the fresh green leaves and the bluebells really sing out. I also saw three Red Deer hinds browsing. They were quite close to the path but took very little notice of me as I paused to get a shot on my phone.
