Benmore Botanic Garden
We visited Benmore Botanic Garden near Dunoon today and it was well worth the hour and a half drive to get there. The visitor guide says that its collection of rhododendrons is one of the finest in the world with over 300 species represented and I can testify to that, they were stunning! The garden is part of The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh and is very hilly with areas representing the Orient and the Himalayas. As well as the rhododendrons, the garden is famous for its magnificent trees and ferns. The weather was mixed, with rain at times but mild and still and it felt as if we were in a more exotic place than Scotland!
