All gone

Imagine my surprise this afternoon.  This was a ginormous pussy willow - planted about 40 odd years ago, with no thought to the continued stability of our beautiful terrace.  AND ... pussy willows are weeds in these 'ere parts, with roots that are guaranteed to bore through water pipes and cause all sorts of havoc.

The massive truck was made of up about 8 different shoots that had all grown together, and the centre is quite rotten.

It's all gone now, and it's made an enormous difference to the light - I'm so excited, as will be all the gardeners.

It's not possible to grind out the roots, so it's been what we call "frilled" drilled and filled with poison.
