Len brought the owl round
A friend is getting rid of accumulated possessions following his wife's death and asked if I knew anyone who would like be his old barn owl's new custodian. I did - two in fact (joint custody may be required).
Len purchased the owl in an auction years ago. It had a label, now lost, that indicated it dated from the 1920s. It's very fragile, and so is the glass case, repaired with sticky tape. The whole thing is packed in a cardboard box stuffed around with newspaper.
It's a big responsibility.
Oh, and he added that the bird itself should only ever be handled with kid gloves as arsenic may have been used as a preservative.
The new custodians are as yet unaware. Watch this space!
