Ladybird Seat

Nottingham has its brightly coloured robins, Leicester has some sort of gimmick that I can't remember, so Loughborough, situated halfway between these two East Midlands cities, has brought in Ladybird seats. Styled like open books, several have appeared in the market place.

Len tried one this afternoon and assured me it was comfortable. Do you remember Ladybird books? You'd have to be of a certain age. They were published in Loughborough from 1914-1999. Demand fell and Ladybird is now an imprint within Penguin.

In recent years, parody versions of the books have appeared aimed at adults and now a new series is being published under the brand Ladybird Expert, short reads that aim to introduce topical subjects, such as Climate Change.

Of course, Ladybird is no longer based in Loughborough, but in London.

The new seats certainly do brighten up the surroundings and I expect to see some in Queens Park when I next go.

The bric a brac market is back and the town was definitely more busy today, albeit people are still wearing masks and being mostly careful to socially distance.

Colin texted first thing this morning to say he wasn't at home today. Thus Aziz was in luck when he rang to ask if we could shop sit, the first time we've done that in over a year.

Shepshed market this morning and a round of Nanpantan Reservoir on the way home.
