Silage making, red kites, a moth and poppies!

So the dogs and I set off for a walk across the farm fields. It was drizzling and seemed fairly uninspiring. How wrong can you be! First of all I saw all the activity of silage making with the tractor and forage harvester and more tractors and trailers. Then, wow, I saw a pair of red kites, circling and then flying across the fields several times. Until last year we haven’t had any red kites in this area and before that I had never seen one. There are still not many and I rarely see them.

Earlier, at lunch time, I saw a pretty moth in the greenhouse too. A small magpie moth I think after looking it up to find out. See a couple more photos in extras.
