Life on the (L)edge

Isn't the will to survive an incredible force, whether animal or plant. This spruce sapling must be a few years old and it seems to be thriving in the smallest patch of soil on a rocky ledge. I can imagine that it will thrust its roots down through tiny cracks in the rock, searching for water, and eventually breaking apart the seemingly hardest of materials.
