Snowbells (Monday 24th May 2021)

Last month I was struck by an image of these wildflowers on a blip by Miranda1008. Known as three-cornered leeks, three-cornered garlic or snowbells (allium triquetrum), they are in the allium family and came here from the Mediterranean. I remarked that I could definitely stand some of that in the garden, and if it invaded the ground-covering ivy that would be a win, because Miranda had warned that it might be invasive.

When I told Refna that I would like to grow some, she researched online and found that it is the 29th most invasive plant in the world, somewhere below Japanese knotweed, and told me I couldn't have them in my garden.

Last Wednesday week, on her way home from my garden, she was surprised to discover a patch of them growing on a footpath on the other side of the main road just opposite the Old Forge, and sent a message to tell me.

I walked the footpath on Monday evening and found them at the far end of the path and photographed them with my macro 100mm lens. They were in a narrow and very shaded spot and light was poor and most of the shots were below par, but I did like this one, an obvious candidate for Miranda's Wildflower Week challenge, with thanks for her hosting.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Bob Dylan - Positively 4th Street (recorded 29 July 1965, Columbia Studio A, New York NY, 1430-1730 hr)
Bob Dylan (vcl, ac gtr) with Michael Bloomfield (gtr), Frank Owens (pno), Al Kooper (org), Russ Savakus (bass), Bobby Gregg (dr)
Bob Dylan turned eighty on this day, as you may have noticed if you have a TV or a radio. For the 44th Dylan LOTD I picked this non-album single that followed Like A Rolling Stone two months later.
4th Street runs through the centre of Dinkytown, a section of Minnesota MN which Dylan used to frequent in 1960; he also lived in West 4th Street in New York NY later for some years. A stereo mix has appeared on some albums, including Biograph, but I have gone for the original mono mix as per the original single released in September 1965. It was Take 12.
