Amazing day!
Started with caviar scrambled eggs and smoked salmon on sourdough toast washed down with champagne!
Then a private tour from historian and Director of Marketing at the Dorchester, he can in specially to meet Sally (the one with long dark hair in the bottom right shot at breakfast), her Grandfather was Jack Jackson, bandleader and radio DJ, he had a 5 year residency in the 1930s at the Dorchester and even had a suite there which he lived in during the week. Chris has been busy compiling the history of the Hotel snd coincidentally had wanted to meet Sally after hearing an interview she had given with her Father and other family members.
After showing us the incredible empty function rooms the highlight of which was the Ballroom John got very excited when I suggested Sally’s Dad who is an accomplished musician should come and play piano and proceeded to take us to the green room where artists usually prepare and into a small space wherein we were presented with one of Liberace’s pianos which the hotel bought at auction. He allowed me to play a few chords and then I sang Natural Woman for them. Piano has been played by many famous people including Prince!
Then Chris and the Dorchester treated us to pink champagne on the roof terrace, an incredible panoramic view of London over Hyde Park, wow!
Rachael went to meet her daughter for lunch and Emma, Sally and I went to the Serpentine in Hyde Park for a gorgeous lunch, Rachael and Lauryn joined us. What a gorgeous day.
Back home In a cab with Emma.
Max is making curry, what a lucky lady I am.
